We tried our means to comfort her and encourage her to disembark the cruise... Ok... I shall stop using nice wordings.. I sort of force her to disembark. As I said earlier, her temper is not good and so do I.
When we made the booking for the cruise, the travel agent had informed us that Macleod Island is quite remote hence even the local (Burmese) might not know its existence. Daddy and I were looking forward to walk around the island since we have never been to Myanmar.
Hiking and kayaking tour were available for booking at deck 6. We were contemplating whether to book but found out that there's a minimum age restriction and despite C&C went for few weeks of swimming lessons, they are not able to swim. I didn't buy life insurance for my kids (C&C only have hospitalisation policy as we don't need them to produce income for us) so we do not have any benefit if we drown them (dear children~ mommy is just trying to joke here. Don't take this sentence too serious when you see this blog in future :p).
We decided to proceed without booking the tour. Since we saw that hiking tour was available we (daddy & mommy) decided to do some short hiking ourselves. We didn't choose to follow tour as it took few hours to complete and parents with young children will know that you won't know what emergency situation you will meet with young children around hence I wouldn't want to take the risk.
We waited at zoadic theater for approximately 1 hour before it was our turn to board the tender boat and there were some people trying to cut queue (we were seated and they call out row by row for boarding the tender boat). I stared at the 3 uncle so hard as I knew they were trying to cut queue (they were not seated at the row which were being called and they just walked up when we were being called to leave) and I have lost my patience after waiting for 1+ hours until they automatically walk behind me with a distance.
As the island is quite remote and they do not have a proper port, they have a very small scale jetty which can only park 1 tender boat per trip. We waited in the middle of the seas for our turn to park at the jetty so that we can get out of the boat for another 1 hour. I still remember we were at the zoadic theater at around 12pm and we finally land at the jetty around 2+pm! The jetty was really minimal and to walk up from the jetty it took around 12 crew (from the island resort. I think they collaborate with cruises to bring tourists in) to actually hold both arms of individual guest to prevent us from falling into the sea!
The only mistake I made will be wearing sports shoes and didn't wear swimwear (I do brought extra clothing for the kids but my initial thoughts were to go for short hiking).
While inside the tender boat which is emergency boat of Genting Dream.
We still have the mood to take pictures after super long wait. Think we were in vacation mood that's why we can take it.
View of the island from the tender boat. The boat we used was the emergency boat on Genting Dream and the window is fully intact and unable to open type. They do have small windows for vantilation but it was rather warm inside the boat.
We have finally reached!!!
We found a baby crab
See the small jetty? The reason why we waited so long to reach... The staff of the resort held on to individual guest arms to prevent the guest from dropping into the sea. The stairs do not have any handle to support and the waves were quite strong. As guests can only walk up one by one and the jetty can only park 1 boat at a time. It was a long wait but it is definitely worth it. The actual view of the island were breath taking.
